You really don’t need to break the bank on props to practice Yoga. Just a few simple household items will certainly do the trick! And if you decide to invest in your own, please check out my “go-to” recommendations below.
GENERAL PROP GUIDELINES FOR MY CLASSES...
Gentle and Yoga For Every Body Yoga classes:
For Restorative classes please also include:
IF YOU FIND YOURSELF WITHOUT ANY OF THESE PROPS...
· A Mat: Try a clean patch of floor, smooth rug, a blanket, or a beach towel.
· A Yoga Blanket: How about a firm, household blanket or a beach/bath towel
· A “Cover-Up” Blanket: Grab your favorite snuggly throw... or socks and a sweater!
· Blocks: Maybe a small step-stool, a tightly folded blanket or towel (tied), thick book (taped), kitchen pot, or a sturdy storage container.
· A Yoga Strap: You might have a belt, sash, or scarf around.
· A Chair: Perhaps a household or kitchen chair (without wheels/arms) or a durable coffee table or stool.
· A Bolster: Borrow a firm couch cushion or two bed pillows for just a bit. You can even wrap them snugly in a blanket and tie them up like a package to add to their firmness.
· An Eye Cover: Grab a small hand towel, cloth napkin, scarf, or even a clean sock.
· Yoga Therapy Balls: What about a pair of… tennis, pinky, racquetballs, or any other kind of firm rubber ball. (You might also grab a sock to keep them in so you can use them together.)
IF YOU'RE LOOKING TO PURCHASE YOUR OWN PROPS...
· Yoga Mat (For Home Practice)
· Big Warm Yoga Blanket (for beneath you in Restorative shapes)
