Welcome to your Yoga practice!

I’m so happy you’ll be joining us for class!

A NOTE ABOUT MY YOGA CLASSES

Yoga is loving expression of self-care.  The practices of Yoga offer many benefits for our bodies, minds, and spirits. It is also important to note that not everyone’s experience of Yoga is the same. Please know that the cues, poses, and practices that I offer are all optional and that, ultimately, you are in charge of your practice.  If anything you are doing begins to cause you discomfort, please come out of the shape and rest. You are your greatest teacher. And with this in mind, I ask that you listen to the deep wisdom of your own body.


HELPFUL PROPS FOR PRACTICE

Gentle, Yoga For Every Body, and Chair Yoga classes: 

  • A Yoga Mat / 2-3 Blankets / 2 Blocks / A Strap / A Chair / A Wall / Optional: Bolster & An Eye Cover 

For Restorative classes: 

  • Please also include a total of 4-5 Blankets / A Bolster / 2 Bed Pillows


PLEASE NOTE: If you’re coming up short for props, please check out my Prop Suggestions & Alternatives page.


CURATING YOUR YOGA SPACE

  • I invite you to create and embellish your Yoga space by including any personal touches that are soothing or supportive for you!  These might include: a favorite throw blanket, some warm socks, a sweater, a snuggly pet, a cup of tea, or maybe even a journal and a pen for personal reflections. 
  • If you enjoy adding music to your yoga experience, you might try one of my customized Yoga Playlists on Spotify!
  • Savasana: I invite you to stay in our final resting pose for as long as you have.  For those "leaving" class with me... we'll quietly tip-toe out, allowing other to remain and relax.


GETTING IN TOUCH WITH ME

If there is anything you'd like to share with me that might help to make your experience in class more comfortable or supportive, I invite you to reach out to me before class by email or text at jdhelfer@gmail.com or 206-321-9241. Also; if you have any special requests, please let me know!


VIRTUAL (ZOOM) CLASSES

  • Class will open 5 minutes early. If you enter class late—or have to leave early, please  kindly “mute” yourself and slip in or out silently.  We all appreciate your consideration!
  • Please gather your props and creature comforts for class and be sure your device is fully charged or plugged in.
  • Audio & Video: You may choose to leave your camera on or off during class.  I will “mute” the class as I teach
